After decades of serving the people of Genoa, Post Master Emmy Dombrowski is retiring on Oct. 3.

Genoans are planning a potluck in her honor for next Wednesday at the Genoa Town Hall. Emmy has been post master for 35 years and saw the movement of Nevada's longest serving post office into a new building in the historic town.

Firefighters will be conducting training using the old Arby's building in Gardnerville next week.

According to Capt. Terry Taylor, the training will focus on working with the ladder turck and sawing and cutting things prior to the owners demolition.

Taylor said the building is too close to town to burn down, so leave the marshmellows at home.

After a lot of very dry days, there is the slight chance there may be some precipitation Sunday night and Monday. The Weather Service is predicting a 10 percent chance of moisture accompanying a slight cool-down.

In the meantime it's going to be very warm today and Friday with the high today hitting 88 and the high on Friday climbing back into the 90s.
