Volunteers are hard at work, preparing for the Fall Family Festival & Pumpkin Patch, to be held 10 a.m. Ð 2 p.m., Saturday at Lampe Park pavilion in Gardnerville. This annual event is in its 11th year, and is sponsored by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's 4-H program and Douglas County Parks and Recreation.
"It's a great time to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather with your family, and pick up your pumpkins for Halloween," said Shannon Montana, Douglas County 4-H youth development coordinator, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
This year's event will feature a costume contest with cash prizes at noon, a fun run, a blood drive, horse rides, food, a silent auction, face painting, a petting zoo, a cupcake walk and carnival games. Smokey Bear will also be on hand. Martial artists will perform demonstrations throughout the day.
Joe Benigno's Tree Service donates the pumpkins and the costume prizes for this 4-H fundraiser.
Admission is free, with a charge for food, pumpkins and some activities.
The 4-H program is a youth leadership and development program of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
