The Carson-Douglas Impulse U-16 girls' soccer club took second place at the Las Vegas Premier Soccer Tournament last weekend.
The tournament was rated a gold tournament on gotsoccer.com and the Impulse competed in the top bracket of the tournament.
They battled to a scoreless tie with the Las Vegas Premier 91 club, beat HB United 4-3 and tied the Coeur D'Alene Sting 0-0 to advance to the final match.
CDO 91 Select of Arizona defeated the Impulse 1-0 with a goal in the last two minutes of the match.
The tournament marked the second time in two weeks that the Impulse played in the finals and they'll head to Boise, Idaho on April 14th for a third try.
The team includes Brenda Luquin, Katie McFarren, Jennifer Johnson, Julianne King, Danyelle Heidt, Lauren Schultz, Samantha Fishburn, Sage Lyons, Helaine Berris, Megan Jackson, Ashley Turner, Krystina Kane, Carly Mathat, Taylor Messelman, Mariah Tompkins, Kelly D'Amico, Michelle Day and Alli Collier. The team is coached by Randy Roser and Mike Berhnard.
Carson Valley Soccer Club's Colo Colo U18 boys' soccer team took second place at the recent Sagebrush Start Up Tournament,
Colo Colo tied for first place in match points but took second in a head-to-head tiebreaker against the Strikers.
The team, consisting of players from Carson Valley and Carson City, competes in the Great Basin Youth Soccer League's under-17 division and is coached/trained by Ron Gardner, Brian Andraski, Ruben Aguilar, Hector Ruelas and Rudy Losche.
Team members include Patrick Flaherty, Andrew Andraski, Ross Gardner, Robbie Forrest, Lupe Ruelas, Fabian Ramos, Dustin Goldade, Chase Losche, Jose Alcaraz, Jeff Hulsey, Brian Jaggard, Geoff Rahe, Ray Kaffer, Ben Wood, Austin Shick, Kyle Gardner, Jesus Martinez and Kyle Mannschrek.
The Capital City Orange 14 volleyball team won its second NCVA area league tournament of the year last week at Del Oro High School in Loomis, Calif.
The club played 11 games and lost only one.
In their final match, Capital City played OVC Red and won with scores of 25-7 and 25-18.
The team is now looking to jump up to the 16 area division to provide a new challenge.
Team members include Whitney Louie, Carly McCullough, Jacqueline Harper, Erin Allison, Rosie Lombino, Emily Garcia, Dani Trujillo, Carson McFadden, Brianne Burnside, Maddy Gilbert, Courtney Appleton, Shannon Dugan, Brenna White and Mia Townsell.
