What could make for a more satisfying afternoon, than to attend a high tea?

This is the second year that women of all ages have been invited to enjoy tea and crumpets while dressed in their finery at the St. Gall Catholic Church High Tea. The theme for the high tea, held April 21 at St. Gall pastoral center, is "The Best of Yesterday." Keeping with the theme, guests are asked to bring a small antique item for a free estimate of its worth by local antique dealers.

"We are going to have a mimosa reception and a raffle preview from 1-2 p.m., with seating for the tea at 2 p.m.," said Molly Park, who is co-chair of the tea with Becky Tupa.

Along with their mimosa, guests will choose from a variety of homemade tea sandwiches, scones, sweet breads and an assortment of homemade desserts. Park said they're still accepting donations of raffle prizes, such as a product, service or gift certificate. For information on donating, call Park at 265-2031.

The grand raffle prize at the high tea is a handmade quilt.

"It's exquisite," said Park.

The cost for the tea is $25. A limited amount of tickets are still available. For tickets, call Val Nunes at 783-0971.

St. Gall has made contributions to the City of Refuge and people in need in the past, most recently to the Jacobs family fundraiser.

"This is our major fundraiser for the year," said Park. "Not only do our profits go to our church, but we make contributions to our community as well."
