The R-C Morning Report

It will start to cloud up today as a storm moves into western Nevada. By tonight it will be mostly cloudy and the National Weather Service says there is a 70 percent chance it will be raining by Wednesday morning. That rain could turn to snow on Wednesday night as the cold air on the back of the front comes through. The chance of snow decreases on Thursday morning. Two things are for certain about this storm. It will be windy and it will be cold.

A Las Vegas woman has been recommended as the next principal of Carson Valley Middle School. Kerry Pope has 10 years of experience as an educator, five of those as an

English teacher at Silverado High School in Vegas. She is the vice principal of Dell Webb Middle School and served as dean for the Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center. School Board members meet 3:30 p.m. today at Kingsbury Middle School in Stateline. Also on the agenda today is a bid to replace Meneley Elementary School's roof and a recognition of Connie Wennhold's service to Douglas County.

There are only really two seasons in our corner of Nevada, winter and roadwork, and this week will see a little of both.

Folks in bright orange vests were walking up and down Main Street in Gardnerville painting lines on the sidewalks on Monday in preparation for night time utility work on either side of the highway. There is also road work on Jacks Valley Road near Genoa Lakes.

Monday was a crazy day for accidents with no fewer than four between noon and 5 p.m. The only injury accident occurred when a woman lost control of her SUV on Mottsville Lane and ended up rolling it into a field. She was ejected from the vehicle and helicoptered for medical attention. I'll post an update when I learn her condition.
