The Carson-Douglas High School rodeo team will host their rodeo this weekend at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
Cutting starts today at the Corley Ranch at 11 a.m. and the rodeo begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
Events start back up Sunday at 8 a.m.
The team has an active membership this year with several students that have placed consistently in the top 10 throughout this season.
Alyce Kugler, who won the girls' cutting state championship last year, is working hard to advance to nationals again this year.
Dayton's Cory Hershkowitz has had a successful season in bareback and has strong hopes for nationals as well.
Byron Kreck (boys cutting), Elyse Heberger (goats and barrels) and Karysa Perez (pole bending) are among the team's top competitors as well.
The top four competitors in each state in each event qualify for nationals, which will be in Springfield, Ill. in July.
The state finals will be in Winnemucca June 14-17.
The team wanted to thank local ranchers James Settelmeyer, Russell Scossa and Jessica Ledbetter for their support in the cutting event and Steve Christian with Carson Dodge for his long-term support.
Johnny Raper of the Corley Ranch has been a large supporter of high school rodeo and Grandma Hatties of Carson City also supports the club year after year.
They also receive a large amoung of support from loyal community sponsors ranging from doctors, dentists, ranches, real estate businesses, banks and many other community establishments.
