Through the first two games at the Atwater Easter Tournament in California, the Douglas baseball team didn't allow a single run.
Coming on the heels of Tyler Hoelzen's one-hit varsity debut on the mound, Tyler May improved to 4-0 on the year with a one-hit performance as Douglas thumped Johansen High School, 10-0 on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the Tigers picked up a 5-1 win to advance to the tournament championship.
During Tuesday's game, May struck out five and walked three to pick up the win.
Nate Whalin doubled and homered while driving in three runs and Willie Morgan and Brandon Bernard each had two RBIs.
Cory Eilers and Ryan Pruitt each had an RBI while Whalin, Pruitt and Niko Saladis each had two hits.
On Wednesday, Douglas took the victory behind the pitching performances of Severin Nobriga, Adam Burnside and Pat Lahlum.
Nobriga took the win, striking out four and walking none in four innings and Burnside struck out one in two innings of work.
Lahlum struck out two and walked one over the final two innings to take the save.
Offensively, Jordan Hadlock hit a solo home run and Bernard and Troy Torres each had an RBI.
Saladis went 2-for-2 at the plate and Wyatt Graham had two hits with one being a double.
Due to the two complete games in the first rounds of the tournament, Douglas still had regular starting pitchers Whalin and Graham available for Thursday's championship round.
Results of that game will be posted on www.recordcourier.com as soon as they become available.
Douglas improved to 18-4 on the year with the win.
