Children's book writer to speak

The Douglas County Public Library has invited writer Ellen Hopkins to Minden to read from her work, 2 p.m. Saturday. Light snacks will be served. Admission is free.


Hopkins' first poem was published in Sierra Magazine when she was 16. She moved to Lake Tahoe in 1985 and continued her passion for writing. She has published 20 non-fiction books for children. Her young adult novel "Crank," written in verse, was released in 2004. Her work has appeared in Newsweek, Tahoe Quarterly, Reno Magazine and Carson Magazine. Her work regularly appears in the Reno Gazette-Journal.
