Tenants were given 10-days' notice to move their merchandise and vacate after being told that Old Town Antiques in Gardnerville has been sold.
The 25-30 antique and collectible dealers who were on month-to-month rental agreements at Old Town received letters April 20 that the property had been sold and the last day of business is April 30.
Dealer Gary Butrick said he knew the store was for sale but thought he would be given 30 days notice to leave.
"We were given 10 days to leave," Butrick said. "My rent is paid through April 30 but I thought I'd be given the common decency of a 30-day notice."
Owner Jeannie Johnson had no comment on how long the present tenants were given to leave or the identity of the new owner.
In the April 20 letter to the Old Town dealers, Johnson wrote that the owners of Cheshire Antiques in Gardnerville and Tumblewind Antiques in Minden had been contacted and both had space available for rent.
Butrick, who had been in his present location for about three years, will start moving his merchandise to Tumblewind today.
"I'm moving in, piece by piece. It will take me a few trips," Butrick said.
"A couple of the dealers are going to Cheshire but I don't know what some of the others are going to do."
