Douglas freshman Haley Von Schottenstein took advantage of the unique format of the Zephyr Aqua 5 swimming pentathlon Saturday, winning the league-wide meet which compiled individual times over five events and four disciplines.
Von Schottenstein took third in the 100 free (59.67), fifth in the 100 back (1:10.60), fifth in the breaststroke (1:19.31), third in the 50 free (27.33) and third in the 100 fly (1:08.43).
Her combined time of 5:05.34 was more than a full second better than her nearest competitor in a field of more than 70 female athletes.
Douglas' Sara Sigala took ninth overall, Paula Sigala finished 13th and Virginia Evans finished 14th.
Denai Neilander (22nd), Amanda McRae (25th), Chandra Matheson (26th), Sarah Tighe (31st), Kali Evanson (32nd) and Julie Pozun (34th) also competed in all five events for the Tigers.
On the boys' side, Paul Von finished ninth overall, Angel Skelton took 10th and Bryant White finished 16th.
Blake Maxwell turned in a number of solid times and may have finished in the top five if he hadn't been disqualified in the 100 back.
He did post finishes of fourth, sixth, seventh and 13th.
