Korrey Woodcock, a senior at Douglas High School, is working with the Carson Valley Children's Center Austin's House for his Eagle Scout project.
As part of his "Fill the Pantry at Austin's House" project, Korrey and other Boy Scouts will be in front of Wal-Mart on Saturday to collect donations for the future children's center's pantry. Austin's House will open its doors this summer as an emergency, temporary housing for children ages infant to 17 who are in situations such as their parents being arrested. The center is under construction in Sunridge.
"I had to choose my Eagle Project," said Korrey. "My mom actually told me about the children's center that was opening, and I wondered what they needed. I called the center and they told me that they needed a lot of items. I thought it would be a good idea to help them out."
Food, paper and hygiene products are needed for Austin's House. The list of items needed to fill the Austin's House pantry will be listed on fliers Korrey will be handing out in front of Wal-Mart. Bins will be provided there for donations, or items can be picked up at the donors' homes. For more information call Court Appointed Special Advocates, 782-6247.
