More than 800 cars are expected to attend the 21st Annual Hot August Nights Poker Run, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 9 in Minden Park.

Registered participants make a 110-mile, five-stop, poker run beginning at the Atlantis Casino in Reno, to the Hard Rock Café in Stateline, down Kingsbury Grade to Minden Park.

"We are the third stop of this all-day event and will be offering food and music as participants pick up their poker cards and stop for lunch," said Jenney Sartin, director of Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority. "We are excited to bring Hot August Nights to Carson Valley once again. It is always a popular event."

Carson Valley Cruisers will assist with parking and entertainment will be provided by Bill McClain's Mobile Music.

The Lions Club will barbecue hamburgers, the Bank Parlor & Pub will offer quarter-pound chili cheese dogs, Barone & Reed offers shrimp cocktail, Francisco's will serve super nachos and Lee's Little Jimmy's Italian Ice will be available.

Come out and see hundreds of classic cars and enjoy great food, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Minden Park and Esmeralda St. in downtown Minden.

After the Minden stop of the poker run, the cars return to Reno, picking up cards at Summit Shopping Center, Champion Chevrolet and Del Webb's Sierra Canyon. The best poker hand wins $3,000, $1,750 for second and $1,000 for third.
