Staff Reports
School is about to start and it's time to think of those students in Douglas County's seven elementary and three middle schools who need assistance with supplies to complete their school work.
Project School Days, now in its 10th year, is a nonprofit organization that fills requests from teachers for their students who need school materials.
Requested supplies range from crayons, pens and pencils to notebooks, dictionaries, backpacks and calculators.
This program has been approved by School Superintendent Carol Lark.
A generous community makes this project possible by donating money that is used to purchase supplies or by collecting and donating school supplies.
All the materials are donated to school children in Douglas County.
The main distribution takes place the first week of September but teachers may request supplies during the school year.
Last year approximately 31 percent of the district teachers participated giving supplies to about 603 children, (about 11.5 percent of the student enrollment).
Project School Days is a nonprofit organization, Federal I.D. No. 88-0393599, so contributions are tax deductible.
Checks may be mail to: Project School Days, P. O. Box 5458, Gardnerville, NV 89410
