The Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue has received a donation of $2,500 from Suzy Stockdale of the Frances C. and William P. Smallwood Foundation.
"The gift could not have come at a better time as the search and rescue unit currently struggles to repair, replace and upgrade some of their equipment such as ropes, rafts and other rescue tools," said Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization.
"Members are on call 24/7 and more often than not, perform their tasks in the harshest conditions Mother Nature provides," Mezzetta said. "The unit depends on the generosity of the public for funding and equipment.
Financial donations may be mailed to DCSSAR, PO Box 1306, Minden, NV 89423.
