The Douglas County Public Library in Minden presents A Gathering of Local Authors, 3-5 p.m. Sept. 8. The event will feature the works of Carolyn Ahern, Ruza Bogdanovich, Todd Borg, William Hill and Helen Martin. The authors and the illustrator will sell their books, meet readers, and sign autographs.

Ahern is the author of a children's educational travel series called "Tino Turtle Travels." Tino Turtle, as created by Ahern, is a desert tortoise and adventure traveler. Ahern's world travels inspired her to share her travel adventures with children to help them understand the history and culture of places such as London and Paris.

Bogdanovich, a native of Yugoslavia, is an internationally renowned lecturer and consultant on raw food nutrition and healthy living. She is the author of several books, including "The Cure Is in the Cause" and "Love Your Pet, Let Nature Be the Vet." Her books and articles in health magazines led to a public television series on natural therapies and nutrition.

Borg recently released a new mystery, "Tahoe Silence." Borg's mysteries feature detective Owen McKenna and his sidekick Spot, a harlequin Great Dane. His earlier works include mystery thrillers "Tahoe Deathfall," "Tahoe Blowup," "Tahoe Ice Grave" and "Tahoe Killshot." His writing awards include a Ben Franklin Award, Best Mystery Award from the Bay Area Independent Publishers, and inclusion on the Top 5 Books of the Year list in Mystery News.

Known for his writings in imaginative fiction and fantasy, William Hill recently published his 10th novel, "The Vampire Hunters Stalked." Hill's other novels include "The Magic Bicycle," "Chasing Time: TMB 2," "California Ghosting," "The Vampire Hunters," "Wizard Sword," "Dragon Pawns: Jules and the Runt Dragon," "Vegas Vampire," "Dawn of the Vampire" and "Vampire's Kiss." To inspire readers and other writers, Hill gives writing workshops and presentations at schools and libraries.

Martin's illustrations are featured in the children's book, "The Almond Heist," written by Kathy Mann. A lifelong sketcher and painter in a wide variety of media, Martin is a member of the Carson Valley Art Association, editor of the CVAA newsletter, and member and treasurer of the East Fork Gallery, an artists' co-op in Gardnerville.
