Endless pool comes to Johnson Lane

An Endless Pool sounds like something I picture in Hope Valley or up by Blue Lakes. Umm, beautiful.

Johnson Lane residents Theresa and Robbie Hight recently had a 400 square foot room added to the back of their home. Its purpose - to make space for their new Endless Pool. It is a steel-framed structure with a heavy 28 millimeter commercial vinyl liner which the company who manufactures this type of wave or therapy pool says is 50 percent thicker than standard pool liners.

This large steel box sits inside the short wall of the pool and when turned on, you can swim against the current like you walk on a treadmill. I have never heard or seen of such a thing. When I asked Theresa about what they cost, she thought around $22,000. I know two families who could benefit from this pool.

Theresa explained how she and her husband wanted the new pool inside the house so they could use it year-round, cut down on an outside pool's heating costs and most of all, not have our Valley winds make it hard to clean and maintain. It also adds humidity to their home when they want to open up the French doors that go to the new room.

Their pool has a retractable security cover that rolls up on a rod when in use and then slides on a track to fit securely on the top of the pool. They are manufactured in several sizes to fit your needs and offer lots of personal options like different coping materials, hydrotherapy jets, underwater lights, a child alarm and even an aquatic treadmill. Theresa and Robbie were able to install their pool in two weekends.

I was very impressed seeing this pool and although I am not trying to sell these, you can call me if you are interested and I am sure Theresa and Robbie would love to show you their new pool and give you more information about how they found this pool. Congratulations on the new room addition, it is beautiful.

Coyote watch

The coyotes have gotten a lot braver. What's wrong - are the rabbits too much work to catch? Last Wednesday, and it was still in the afternoon, a pack dug under my back fence and one at a time grabbed a chicken or duck until they all had one in their mouth and we had none left in our chicken run. I didn't hear or see it. I was in the house with the air conditioner on. Not a feather was found when I was filling up the duck pool and called out, "Here ducky, here ducky," and got no response. That's when I noticed they were all gone.

Be aware, they are on the move. Does anyone know if I extended my hot-wire to the low side of the back fence if they would still dig in?

In the garden

How is your garden growing? Due to the late freeze in June, mine is nothing to write home about. But, if you have a great garden this year and would like to share about it with us, give me a call and I would love to come see it and hear about your tricks of the trade.
