Munich comes to Minden and Gardnerville during Carson Valley Sertoma Club's 17th annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, Sept. 23 in Heritage Park.
There will be genuine German cuisine, live Bavarian biergarten music and plenty of cold specialty beers and beverages of all sorts are on tap.
A bandstand and a big dance floor, ringed with garden canopies, tables and chairs, will set the scene on the green of Heritage Park in Gardnerville for the 17th annual festival, which reflects the history of German families who moved to the Carson Valley from Minden, Germany, in the last century.
Events open at 11 a.m., with music by Al Gruber and The Bavarian Band beginning at 12:30 p.m. and playing until 4:30 p.m.
Crafters and vendors will also be there. Admission is free.
There will be a choice of sausage platters mit sauerkraut, hot German potato salad and special Oktoberfest draft beers will be served all afternoon, along with hot dogs for the kinder.
Service goes on until 4 p.m., rain or shine. Free on-street parking is available around Heritage Park all day. All proceeds go to charity.
