Genoans decided to go outside the county to find their new town manager when they offered Andrew Sheehy the job on Tuesday night. Sheehy was not present for the announcement. Salary negotiations are now all that stand in the way of Genoa hiring its fourth manager. A final decision should be made at the town's strategic planning session next week.
I was a little disappointed with the fireworks at the town meeting last night because there weren't any. There was more discussion on whether to install dog poop stations along Foothill Road (it was too much for me, dog doo is where I draw the line) than there was over seeking an exclusive permit for Candy Dance and protesting two permit applications that were filed with the county shortly after last Candy Dance.
The National Weather Service is betting the farm that there will be some sort of snow falling in Western Nevada by Thursday night. According to today's special weather statement a low pressure system will be dropping into Northern California on Thursday on its way south. Forecasters are saying there is a good potential for snow in the mountains and foothills and perhaps, maybe, down to the Valley floor, if it maintains its current track.
Today's weather will be partly sunny with a high of 58 degrees. On Thursday, the chance of precipitation increases to 45 percent at 4 a.m. and then to 85 percent at 4 p.m. The winds are expected to stay light, which is a good thing if we're going to milk any moisture out of this system.
