The Grinch in the form of vandals hit at least three Chichester Estates homes in Gardnerville early Thursday morning.

Chichester Drive resident Ward Saxe said he arrived home from work to find someone had destroyed their Christmas display, pulling down lights, destroying the family's Santa, an elephant with a present on its trunk and several deer on the lawn.

"Everything was knocked down or pulled apart," Saxe said.

He said a deputy came by Thursday morning and told his wife that at least two other Christmas displays in the neighborhood were hit.

Saxe said Chichester Estates residents work very hard on their Christmas displays.

"Chichester has been very good about decorating," he said. "It's amazing this year. We thought we had a great display, but there were people this year who outdid us. You should drive through Chichester and check it out. Some of the streets behind us are amazing."

n A 26-year-old Minden man was charged with disorderly conduct after he threatened deputies in the lobby of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office who refused to let him visit a jail inmate because he was intoxicated.

Security officers said Brandon Pavloff caused a disturbance in the lobby about 2 p.m. Monday when officers said he couldn't visit the inmate because he appeared to be drunk.

As he was passing through security to leave the building, Pavloff reportedly threatened Deputy Dan Coverley, saying, "if I see you on the street."

Pavloff was placed in restraints and led to the jail, shouting obscenities along the way.

n A Minden man was charged with battery on a police officer after he took a swing at a deputy who gave him a ride home after he was kicked out of Carson Valley Inn for trespassing.

James Thomas Yager, 52, was verbally abusive with employees and jail personnel when he was booked for trespassing.

A deputy gave him a ride home to the 1600 block of Esmeralda and said Yager was belligerent and shouted obscenities.

When they arrived at Yager's residence, his son helped him up the stairs.

After Yager reportedly pushed his son, the deputy stepped between them and Yager punched the officer with a closed fist.

He was returned to jail on the battery charge.

n Probation was revoked Wednesday for a 46-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates woman sent to jail for six months because she was unable to care for her 6-year-old son.

Robbi Wilson begged East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl not to send her to jail.

She was sentenced in April for contributory neglect for failure to care for her son. EnEarl released her on probation with an order not to consume drugs or alcohol.

Deputies were called to her residence on Nov. 28 on the report of a domestic battery and discovered she had been drinking.

EnEarl said she could attend an in-patient alcohol rehabilitation program and it would count toward her sentence.
