Her snow-blanketed front yard reflected in a Christmas tree ornament earned Kathy Port top honors in the Carson Valley Photo Club's December competition.

"I was hanging it all over the place on a freezing day," Port told club members. "My neighbors really wondered what was going on."

Her efforts produced a stunning picture that included light snow on the branches of the tree, the yard and a snow-covered fence reflected in the shinny silver ball. She titled it "Winter Wonderland."

Second- and third-place winners, Debi Smith and David Stewart, took their reflection photos in Bodie.

Smith's "Reflections of the Past" caught an historic building reflected in the old window of another structure in the ghost town. Icicles can be seen dangling from the roof outside.

Stewart titled his photo of a barn reflected in a broken window "Bodie Window and Barns."

Club members will be taking photos that embody the theme "Winter" for the January contest.

The Carson Valley Photo Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. For more information, call 783-8600 or go to www.cvphotoclub.com.
