The Douglas High girls' junior varsity basketball team went 2-1 at last weekend's High Sierra Winter Classic in Reno.
The Tigers topped Galena 51-19 to open the tournament as Briana Rutherdale scored 14 points, Ne'Jae Jackson had 12, Megan Michitarian had six and Niki Hamzik, Edna Meza and Sara Mangiaracina each scored four.
CJ Baumgartner scored three and Emily Weaver and Susie White each scored two.
Douglas dropped a close 38-36 decision to Truckee in the second game of the tournament. Meza and Mangiaracina led the Tigers with nine points apiece, Jackson had seven, Rutherdale had six, Baumgartner had three and Jessica Burtt scored two.
Douglas topped Lassen 53-32 in the third game, getting 14 points from Mangiaracina, 11 from Rutherdale, 10 from Jackson, seven from Weaver, four from Meza, three from Baumgartner and two each from White and Janelle Sison.
In its first home game of the season, the Douglas High girls' freshman team topped Galena 48-35 Tuesday night.
Jackie Harper led the way for the Tigers with 14 points, Brianne Burnside scored nine, Carly McCullough added eight, Natalie Freitas scored seven, Kathleen Salazar had four and Megan King, Alex Laing and Naomi Roberts each scored two.
Douglas improved to 4-2 on the year with the win.
