The first of three storms expected to bring snow to the Sierra blasted right through early Monday morning leaving bupkis. The wind was clocked at 46 mph early this morning in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Right now the temperature is a very warm 39 degrees.

The next big weather pulse is expected to hit after 4 p.m. today, when the second storm arrives in the Valley. The National Weather Service is betting the farm on this one, predicting a 70 percent chance of snow today and a 90 percent chance on Tuesday. They broke out all the weather graphics for this week, with something for every day through Thursday. It will be windy again.

The road controls this morning are focused on the west side of Lake Tahoe, with chains mandatory over Interstate 90 and Highway 88. You can get over Highway 50 and around the west side of the Lake without chaining up. If you've got to go to Truckee, go through Tahoe City and avoid the chain controls.
