Western Nevada is under a high wind watch starting this afternoon as the third storm approaches. The watch takes effect this evening through Thursday morning and wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible tonight. The Weather Service is reporting the worst of the wind should be blowing Thursday morning.

Forecasters are calling for a 90 percent chance of snow or rain tonight with a 90 percent chance of snow on Thursday. One thing is certain, though, if the winds push this storm too hard, we won't see a single flake. Heavenly reported 4 inches of new snow from Tuesday's storm and 6 inches over the past 24 hours. Gardnerville just got a little wet during the storm. It's warm out this morning with the thermometer at Meneley Elementary reading 41 degrees with an 8 mph breeze. It's 34 degrees in Minden.

They'll be wrapping up wrapping presents today at Project Santa Claus. Anyone wishing to volunteer should head over to the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Work will progress from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in preparation for distribution on Thursday. All materials will be furnished, you just need to show up. Men and women are welcome, no small children please. For more information, call Marilyn Malkmus at 782-4931.
