Former R-C people editor named publisher of Nevada Magazine

Former Record-Courier People Editor Joyce Hollister has been named publisher of Nevada Magazine.

Other promotions and recent hires include: Tony deRonnebeck, from production manager to art director; Matt Brown from associate editor to editor; and Charlie Johnston as associate editor, state tourism Director Tim Maland said.

"Joyce brings to her new position great experience as a writer and editor and keen insight about our state, which benefits the publication significantly," Maland said.

Hollister, a Genoa resident, has been with Nevada Magazine since 2001, most recently as editor. In her new role, she is responsible for all aspects of Nevada Magazine's production, which is published six times a year and has a circulation of 105,300.

"I am looking forward to taking on the challenge and opportunity as publisher of Nevada Magazine and feel that we have a great team of passionate writers, editors and other staff to help continue its success," Hollister said.

Hollister was The R-C's first people editor and worked for the paper for 25 years.

As art director, deRonnebeck is responsible for layout and design, collateral materials and special projects.

A graduate of Brown College in Minneapolis, deRonnebeck brings more than 20 years of graphic design experience.

He joined the magazine staff more than two years ago.

Brown, a graduate of California State University, Chico, came to Nevada Magazine in August 2006.

Johnston, a 2006 graduate of the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, and a former intern at Nevada Magazine, will be responsible for writing and editing stories, reviewing manuscripts, working with writers to develop story ideas and preparing articles for publication in print and online.
