Bill Nichols has announced his retirement after working for Re/Max Realty in Carson Valley for about 20 years.
"I'm not retiring from life. I'm just retiring from coming into the office everyday at seven in the morning," said Nichols. "But I've really enjoyed my career. I never considered it work."
Nichols said he is going to start a new chapter in his life, retaining his real estate license to work on special projects and also planning to travel.
"I purchased an airplane, and I would like to fly to bed and breakfasts along the California coast, maybe even cross country."
Nichols said he's been very lucky to see the Valley change over 20 years.
"The market's had its ups and downs, but I'm really optimistic about the future," he said.
Nichols also worked in development, helping build communities like Saratoga Springs off Stephanie Way and Quail Meadows in Yerington.
"What pleases me most is the quality of neighborhoods I've worked on and the friends I've made."
Nichols said he would miss his coworkers at Re/Max.
"They never seemed to have that competitive spirit you find at other brokerage firms. They have this spirit of cooperation. I would call them family."
