The R-C Morning Report

It's clear and cold out this morning with the temperature hovering at about 14 degrees in downtown Minden. Anticipate some ice on the roads this morning and take it easy. An auto accident on the Friday before Christmas would take a lot of fun out of the holiday.

There are still some road controls out there, but Interstate 80 is clear for that ride to grandma's house. Chains are mandatory over highways 50 and 88, but being able to get through on 88 is an improvement over yesterday. Also for those of you heading south on Highway 395, there's a chains or snow tires requirement just north of Bridgeport to watch out for. Chains or snow tires are also being required on Highway 50 over Spooner and Highway 28 between Spooner Junction and Incline Village and of course over the ever popular Mount Rose Highway.

It's going to be nice over the weekend before Christmas with the next storm holding off until Sunday night. We'll have highs in the 40s and the lows will climb into the 20s for a while. There is a chance it will rain Sunday night and Monday morning, which will wash away any chance for a white Christmas in the Valley.
