Santa will be bringing two blasts of polar air with him this Christmas week, according to a special statement issued by the National Weather Service. The first front will hit Western Nevada on Monday afternoon and will bring gusty winds as high as 45 mph in the Valleys with ridge gusts over the mountains of up to 75 mph. There is a slight chance we'll see some snow in the upper elevations and some rain down in the valleys. The second in the polar one-two punch will bring a chance of light to moderate snow, but will also bring very cold temperatures to the upper elevations. Forecasters are predicting that above 8,000 feet in the Sierra temperatures will drop to near zero Wednesday afternoon and that wind chill will bring temperatures down to minus 15 to minus 25 degrees. So if you don't want to be all "Day After Tomorrow" on Wednesday wear layers and cover your nose and ears.
This is the third time the forecast has changed in three days, so don't be surprised if we're taking it all back on Monday.
