The R-C Morning Report: Bear sighting?

A Gardnerville Ranchos woman found what she thought was a human foot while she was walking her dog behind Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School on Dec. 19. It certainly looked enough like a foot that the investigating deputy took it down to a veterinarian's clinic to have it X-rayed. The vets postulated that the foot was really a paw, a theory that was confirmed when Nevada Department of Wildlife biologist Carl Lackey was called and confirmed that the foot was really a bear paw.

It's clear and cold this morning, but it won't stay that way, according to the National Weather Service. They're betting we'll go from clear skies to an 80 percent chance of snow starting at 4 p.m. today and running until 10 p.m. We'll probably only see a half inch if we see a single flake.

It actually did snow on Wednesday, sort of. I guess a few flakes counts as something. There are no road controls in effect today, which includes Washoe Valley. Go figure.

There's an abandoned vehicle about five miles from the Douglas-Carson line on Spooner and a white box in the southbound lanes of Highway 395 between Genoa and Muller lanes.
