Carson Valley businesses made sure there were ample donation barrels available for the community to fill with groceries in December. The results stocked the shelves of the Carson Valley Community Food Closet and were distributed to families in need for Christmas dinners. We thank all local merchants and businesses that sponsored barrels. How lucky we are to live in a community that truly practices the spirit of Christmas. The Boy Scouts, Douglas Disposal, KTVN Channel 2, the Carson Valley Inn and local businesses working together made this drive a success.

Here are the businesses we wish to thank: A-American Self Storage, Gardnerville; World Gym, North Carson City and Minden; Northwest Martial Arts, Gardnerville; Save-Marts, Carson City; Best Buy, Sierra Pacific Power Co., Carson, National Nurses Association at Western Nevada College, Carson City; PCC Structural, Airport Way and Sears, Indian Hills. Minden Village businesses: AG Edwards, Cold Stone Creamery, Douglas Disposal, 88 Cups, Artisans International, Charles Schwab and Sierra Nevada Trading Co.

Not to be forgotten are the sheriff's mounted posse for their help in distributing Christmas dinner boxes and all the food closet volunteers. Thanks to all who donated at these businesses throughout Douglas County, the Channel 2 News drive and everyone who brought groceries to our door as well. The spirit of your support will not be forgotten in the hearts of those you helped.
