Theodore 'Ted' Edward Thran
1930-2007
A celebration of life is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville for Theodore "Ted" Edward Thran, 77, who died at his home, Dec. 26, 2007.
Mr. Thran was a lifelong resident of Carson Valley. He was born Sept. 22, 1930, to Richard and June Thran. While living in the Valley he worked for C.C. Meneley, the Minden Creamery, Herb Cordes Construction and finally forming a construction business with his brothers Bob and Jon, called Thran Brother's Construction. Later, the three brothers inherited part of the Thran Ranch and continued ranching until the death of their brother Bob.
Mr. Thran was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and June Thran and brothers Emery and Bob. He is survived by his wife Susan Cornforth of 46 years, sons Ted and Mike, brother Jon and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice be sent in memory of Theodore Thran.
Aldo Benedetti
1924-2007
A rosary service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with a funeral Mass celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City for Aldo Benedetti, 83, who died Dec. 24, 2007, in a Reno hospital.
Mr. Benedetti was born May 2, 1924, in Burbank, Calif. to Jeseppi and Adalia Benedetti. His early life was spent in the San Fernando Valley where he was active in the Lions Club. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the paratrooper corps and received the Silver Star for bravery in the Pacific Theater. He married Carolyn Benedetti, Feb. 27, 1972, in Glendale, Calif. He lived in Gardnerville and Fallon before moving to Carson City in 2000. He served as a Churchill County Commissioner from 1985 to 1988. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Benedetti; sons Bruce and his wife Nancy Benedetti of Michigan, James Benedetti, Mark and his wife Tracy Humboldt of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughters Allison and her husband Steve Rhoden of Pear Blossom, Calif., and Cynthia and her husband Rick Pennington as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
