Deputies were called to a Minden thrift store Dec. 26 after volunteers discovered a post-holiday donation of a BB gun and ammunition.
Officers recovered a Marksman Repeater black semiautomatic-style BB gun and a box of BBs.
The thrift shop manager said the weapon and ammunition were discovered in a donation box.
The items were booked into evidence and destroyed, according to the sheriff's office.

There were nine verbal domestics, three arrests for domestic battery, four referrals to the district attorney for review of battery and temporary protection order violations and one unsubstantiated battery.
Nine juveniles witnessed domestic violence and one juvenile was a suspect in a verbal domestic for a total of 10 contacts.
The Family Support Council submitted three requests to East Fork Justice Court for temporary protection orders with three approvals.
Four requests for anti-stalking and harassment orders were submitted with three pending a hearing and one withdrawn.
Connie Richardson, sheriff's office domestic violence prevention coordinator, said the average number for domestic violence contacts is 16-22 for this time frame. The average number of children witnessing domestic violence is 9-11 per week with juvenile suspects at 0-2 per week.
