The Douglas Wildcats youth wrestling program closed out the folkstyle portion of its season competing at North Valleys and Wooster over the last two weeks.
Tahoma Smokey placed first in the bantam division (6-7-year-olds) while his brother, Torin Smolkey, placed second in the rookie division (4-5) at North Valleys.
In other bantam action, Blake Murray wrestled tough on his way to two gold medals while Bryce Capra and Joseph Harris both placed second twice. Willard Franklin, Dale McDonald and Rocky DiMartino also competed well in this division.
Jared Buchanan and Kevin Jameson continued to improve in the midget (8-9) division.
In the novice division (10-11), Ariel Gutierrez and first-timer Luke Falanga have been getting valuable mat time. Brian Hearold went undefeated at Wooster en route to his first gold medal of the season.
Schoolboy division (12-13) standout Zach Falanga earned two more gold medals. Also in the division, Robert Franklin placed second, Jorge Gutierrez placed third and Robert Grant placed fourth.
Asher Moody and Cameron Jurgenson also competed in the cadet division (14-15).
The Wildcat season will continue with the freestyle and Greco Roman portion of the season at Fallon, Feb. 11. Sign-ups are ongoing.
