The Carson Valley Art Gallery Association continues its Second Saturday events during the month of February. The Carson Valley Art Gallery Association is a group of seven galleries in the Carson Valley - Genoa, Minden and Gardnerville - who have joined together to better market art; not only locally, but throughout Northern Nevada and California. Events scheduled during Second Saturday range from artists receptions and demonstrations to live music and refreshments. A sampling of what you will find on Feb.10 includes:
-- Artisans International will be featuring the music of local singer and songwriter, "Beans" Sousa, from 2 and 4 p.m. Shop for your valentine's sweetheart and receive 10 percent off all heart and heart-related items.
-- A display of art created by students and instructors during a recent workshop held in Kauai, Hawaii, by Teri Sweeney and her mentor, artist Julie Pollard from Arizona will be displayed at Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, Suite B, Gardnerville. Tropical food and drinks will be served to chase away the winter blues.
-- East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville, will hold a demonstration of Scratchboard Art by Margie Leslie from 1 to 3 p.m. Scratchboard is a black-and-white process of scratching a black ink coating away, revealing a white drawing. Light refreshments with a Valentine's Day theme will be served.
-- Art!Rageous, 1685 Highway 395, Suite 5, Minden Plaza, Minden, and the Davis Gallery of Fine Art, 2285B Main Street, Genoa will both be featuring winter sale prices on artwork.
