Veteran Reno Air Race pilot Steve Brown was last seen 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report posted to nevadaappeal.com. Brown was flying his Pitts S-1 aerobatics biplane the Tonopah Low. Searchers contacted airports in Douglas and Lyon counties. Brown raced in the biplane gold final category. Searchers will begin again on Thursday.
Douglas Animal Welfare Group President Cherie Owens will be featured Friday on Channel 2's "Someone to Know" segment that typically appears at 6:45 p.m. A news crew went to the Douglas County Animal Shelter to film. Television news reporter Kristen Walters is in charge off the story.
The first in a series of wet storms managed to skip right over Carson Valley on its way east. A second burst of moisture is over the Chico and Oroville, but will probably pass north of us later this evening. Light snow fell in Kingsbury during the day, but that was the total moisture experienced in Douglas County.
