With less than a month before the Savor the Flavor event, Soroptimist International of Carson Valley, sponsors of the event, are finalizing the restaurants and wineries that will serve the people attending.
"We are looking at enhancing the line-up of restaurants and wineries to make sure everyone enjoys the food and wine the restaurants and wineries have so generously donated to the event," said publicity chair Bronwyn Mason.
"We have confirmed many of the restaurants and they include David Walley's, Genoa Lakes Golf Resort, Wasabi's Asian Bistro, Coyote Grill, Two Guys From Italy, Sierra Nevada Trading Company, Bella Vita, Killer Salsa, The Bank Parlor and Pub, and Sweetie Pies. Of course, the Soroptimist Club will also be serving some of their best recipes from the cookbook they published this year and have been selling."
The wineries participating in the event include Tahoe Ridge, a local winery, as well as Davis Bynum, Crinella, Fratelli Barale, Il Carlino, Mahoney, Boeger, Young's, Battle of Bosworth, Villa Alessi, Valdifalco, Carrefour, Ferrari Carano, Gnarly Head, Beringer, Bohemian Highway, Robert Mondavi, Martin and Weyrich, Pahrump Valley Winery, Sebastiani, Smoking Loon, Dreyer of Sonoma, Seabiscuit Ranch, Chateau Souverain, Chateau St. John, Wolf Blass, Greg Norman, and Simi.
All proceeds from the Savor the Flavor event benefit local community projects including student scholarships, youth programs, family assistance, environmental and health related projects. Last year, more than $25,000 was raised at the event with the generous support from the community who attended the event. The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Genoa Lakes Golf Resort and will end at 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door and may be purchased from local merchants and any Soroptimist member. In Minden, tickets are still available at Artisans International Gallery, Carson Valley Mortgage, Sierra Nevada Trading Company, Stewart Title, Jen's Optical House, World Gym, Neddenriep and Associates and Syncon Homes Headquarters.
