OK, so it's the first week of this column. I got some good reviews, but not the response I was hoping for. But, I did hear from some musicians and clubs I hadn't heard from before, so that's good, huh? Although I'm sure there are lots more of you musicians performing out there.

So here's what I got this time for what's coming up local entertainment-wise here in the Valley.

Rockin' at Sharkey's
This Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Horseshoe Bar, Sharkey's Casino is featuring classic rock 'n' roll with a western flair from Robin Turley. Turley is a well-known artist from Western Nevada who has spent a good portion of his life traveling the world and entertaining. He is welcomed back to Sharkey's Casino. His last appearance at Sharkey's was in 1977. Sharkey's is located at 1440 Highway 395, Gardnerville. For more information, call 782-3133.
Ranchos music
Boodler's Bar and Grubshack, formerly The Stone Pony, has music planned regularly every weekend. Monday is karaoke night beginning at 8 p.m., Wednesday open mic is at 8 p.m. and on Saturday live music by Rad-Ral the "human juke box" also starts at 8 p.m.
"This is definitely the most happening nightspot in the area," said one of the owners Keith Endlich. "Come in on a Friday night to see and feel the energy."

Return of Brenn Hill
The country-western singer Brenn Hill will return to Carson Valley Inn for the second time on Saturday. The doors of the Shannon Ballroom open at 6 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $21, and are available at the Carson Valley Inn Gift Shop, 783-7708, or S&W Feeds in Carson City, 882-1225. Hill, a singer-songwriter from Utah, has released six albums and has a growing string of awards. He draws his inspiration from the lifestyle of the modern west. Bar BQ Boys at Backroads
The local band, Bar BQ Boys, will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight at Backroads Bar & Grill on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Backroads Bar & Grill is at 2244 Meridian Blvd., off Airport Road. The Bar BQ Boys are a Carson Valley-based band that plays a variety of bluegrass, classic rock, blues, country and reggae music. The group formed about a year ago and includes Paul Cutunilli on mandolin and bass, Bobby Smile on guitar and dobro, Johnny Walter on stand-up bass and blues harmonica and Michael Chambon on banjo and dobro. Cutunilli and Chambon sing lead and harmony vocals, Walter sings bass back-up vocals and takes the lead on several numbers, including off-beat tunes like Commander Cody's "Hot Rod Lincoln." Carson Valley Pops Orchestra
The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra 2007 schedule of performances includes the "Swing into Spring!" concert on April 14 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The event also includes a raffle and refreshments. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Concerts are free of charge with donations appreciated. Concert information can be found at carsonvalleypops.org or by calling 267-9363.
