There's snow on the mountains and three days off to enjoy it as we enter the Presidents Day weekend. County, state and federal offices will be closed Monday, as will the post office and the banks. The R-C will continue to plug away, however. The weekend forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of snow on Sunday night followed by a chilly Monday.

There are a few cultural events going on this weekend in the Valley. Among those are an art show 3-9 p.m. today and most of the day Saturday at Art!Rageous in the Minden Plaza, which benefits the Boys & Girls Club and a cioppino dinner sponsored by the Knights of Columbus starting 6 p.m. Saturday.

Some folks are getting a head start on the weekend today. There's going to be a lot of traffic as people from California head up to the ski slopes and people from around here head elsewhere. Be careful and strap in so we're all safe back in our places on Tuesday.
