While some may have thought the Douglas boys' basketball team had a reasonable shot to knock off No. 2 Reno Friday in the Northern 4A Regional semifinals, no one would have expected this.

Douglas ran off an incredible 20-0 first quarter and never looked back from there, taking an impressive 86-59 win over Reno to advance to Saturday's regional title game.

Keith Olson led the way for the Tigers with 21 points and Mike Gransbery added 20, including five 3-pointers. Jeff Nady had 14 and James McLaughlin finished with 10. Kevin Emm (8), David Laird (7), Joe Nady (2) and Nate Whalin (2) rounded out the scoring.

Reno was led by Austin Morgan (23 points) and Olek Czyz (19).

The Tigers advance to their first regional title game since 1979, a season in which they ended up claiming the 2A state title.

Douglas will have to get past No. 1 Galena, a four-point winner over Hug Friday.

Tip-off for the regional title game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Spanish Springs High School.
