The Coleville boys' and girls' basketball teams were both victims of tough playoff draws over the weekend as the boys lost to Wells 64-43 and the girls lost to Owyhee in the semifinals.

The girls fell behind by 19 points in the second quarter and were never really able to recover.

Amara Rowley led Coleville with 16 points, 12 rebounds and six steals and Kassie Pemberton had 15 points.

Skyler Isbell added four points and had 12 rebounds.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Wolves topped McDermitt 58-42 with 19 points from Rowley and 14 from Torley.

Jake Westerlund led the boys in scoring in the loss to Wells while Marco Barajas had 10 rebounds for the Wolves.

Coleville wrapped up its season at 12-14 overall.

When was the last time the Douglas boys' basketball team had a 20-win season?

Douglas opens its baseball season on March 8 at the Bearman Memorial Tournament at Reed High School. For anyone who's counting, that's three Thursdays from now.

The team's preseason scrimmage at Reno High is next Saturday (March 3).

The AA state championship team of 1978-79 was the last team to do, putting together a 29-4 record. This year's Tigers went 23-9, advancing to Saturday's regional title game before a one-point loss to the Galena Grizzlies.
