The following story is amazing, and happening right here in our Valley. I have a neighbor who must be Wonder Woman's relative.
She is single-handedly raising two boys, one in elementary school and the other in intermediate school, on top of caring for her husband who was recently put in assisted living due to declining health problems.
This shifted the work load of the couple squarely onto her shoulders entirely, all household chores, paperwork (foreign to her during her entire marriage), yard work, Boy Scout meetings, school activities, the works now fall to her.
To keep up with the visits to her husband, shopping, plus transportation for all the activities of the boys, she is driving a big ol' gas eater that they have owned since the '70s.
It literally has more than a million miles on the original engine, and now is costing her in repair bills far more than she can keep up with.
Her social security is literally being sucked through both the gas lines and the repair costs of their big old "boat on wheels." Many people reading this might ask, "Well, so what? Lots of people are shouldering such a load, what is so special about this lady? I'll tell you what is so special about her. The two boys she is raising are her great grandsons. She and her husband have been married for 61 years.
She truly must be a relative of Wonder Woman, maybe even her grandma, as she is in her eighth decade.
I'm appealing to our community at large to lend a helping hand to this incredible woman by contributing to an account I've set up at Nevada State Bank for the purpose of purchasing her a solid, gas efficient, used car.
I promise to publish a follow-up article with the details of the purchase.
That way, every person who contributes to the "wheels of love" account will be able to spot the car around town and know with satisfaction that they were a part of blessing this unique, amazing family.
One week ago, my neighbor called me to run her to the emergency room late at night. Her heart was racing with stress, at 178 beats per minute. I know a huge factor which caused that is finances, and that big old boat is sinking the family fast.
One more thing, I'm sure many of you reading this have guessed whom this article refers to, and you know the pride of independence she has.
Please keep this quiet and do not bring it to her attention.
I want this to be an anonymous gift from the community. Do spread the word to your family and friends, working together we can make this happen fairly quickly.
Large or small, your donation will help immensely.
Please contribute at Nevada State Bank in the Gardnerville Smith's Branch to the Wheels of Love account. I'm so glad you are able to participate.
