Big fat flakes of snow are coming down in Gardnerville. It has gotten the pavement wet, but is not yet sticking.

Snow has been falling in the Sierra since early this morning. R-C People Editor Jo Rafferty described her commute over Kingsbury Grade as harrowing.

"There was a lot of wet snow on the road and it hadn't been plowed yet," she said. "A school bus was stuck at Chimney Rock."

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle in a snowbank on Kingsbury between North Benjamin and Buchanan at about 8 a.m.

According to a snow advisory issued by the National Weather Service, 8-16 inches of snow is expected above 7,000 feet by 6 p.m. Between 4 and 8 inches of snow is predicted at the level of Lake Tahoe. An inch of snow is predicted to fall in the Valley.
