The Parks and Resorts division of the Aramark Corp., located at Zephyr Cove, has donated a snowmobile to Douglas County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue unit.

The donation will be added to the search and rescue's fleet and will be used by their snowmobile team during searches for lost skiers and others stranded in snow country, said Sgt. Tom Mezzetta.

"Aramark's donation is a welcome addition to search and rescue and will be used extensively during the winter months. Their snowmobile and snowshoe teams participated in a record number of searches for lost skiers in Douglas County during last winter's record snowfall," he said.

"Maintaining a dependable fleet of snowmobiles is a huge job for us, and vital to the services we provide to the residents of Douglas County," said search and rescue President Merrilyn Noble.

"We very much appreciate Aramark's gift and look forward to incorporating it into our unit."

Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer unit with more than 50 members, providing services to all of Douglas County's 750 square miles of mostly rural countryside.

It also regularly participates in mutual aid agreements with other Northern Nevada and Northern California rescue organizations.
