There are road controls all over western Nevada, including Highway 395 from just north of Holbrook Junction to Carson Valley and from the junction with 88 to north of Washoe Lake, Kingsbury Grade, Highway 50 from the intersection with Kingsbury all the way to the road construction on Spooner. Highway 88 over Carson Pass is closed for avalanche controls and if you're driving through the Sierra in California, better have those chains ready. So far, it looks like folks are paying attention to the roads, because the NHP isn't reporting any serious accidents in Douglas.

About an inch of light powder fell in Genoa over night. According to a National Weather Service short-term forecast, another inch of snow is expected in some localities during the morning commute. The weather service is asking commuters on the Highway 395 corridor to take extra time to deal with snow covered roads.

We'll get a short break in the weather on Saturday with a chance of rain and some winds gusting up to 31 mph, then it's time to do it all over again on Sunday. The probability of rain or snow will remain high through Tuesday. At 6:46 a.m., it's 29 degrees in Genoa with very light snow falling off the mountain.
