Roger Michael Long

1948-2007

A potluck mixer and celebration of life is 6 p.m. March 9 for Roger Michael Long, 58, who died Feb. 23, 2007, at his home in Minden. The mixer will take place in the Carson Valley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Mr. Long was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Portolla, Calif., to Burt E. and Violet E. Long. He was in one of the first graduating classes of Wooster High School in Reno, class of 1966. He married Margaret Cary in Virginia City at the Silver Queen Wedding Chapel, July 5, 1982. He and his wife Margaret owned Valley Floor Fashions in Carson Valley.

Mr. Long was an active member of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority, the Douglas Toastmasters and the Dakota Organization to help promote performing arts in the Valley. He was an avid reader, he loved model railroads and was involved in the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase. His favorite get away was Graeagle, Calif., where his parents owned a summer home. As a boy, he spent many hours hiking the mountains and streams; always wanting to go fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1973, his mother in 1989 and his sister Janice Long in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret Long of Minden; sister Joyce Long of Burbank, Calif.; brothers Scott Long of Cottonwood, Ariz., Robert Long of Talihina, Okla. as well as 35 nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece and nephew.

Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Funeral Home with cremation to take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Roger Long's name to DAWG, Carson Valley Food Closet or a food closet of your choice, the Family Support Council or a women's shelter of your choice or the Douglas County Public Library.

Jacqueline

'Jacqui' L. Mobley

1933-2007

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. March 3 at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Park Building, 3939 Carter Way in TRE for Jacqueline "Jacqui" L. Mobley, 63, who died Feb. 19, 2007.

Mrs. Mobley was born March 28, 1933 in Norwich, N.Y. to Donald Tuttle and Dorothy M. Campbell. She retired from Anchorage Municipal Telephone Company. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 3630, holding the offices of auxiliary president for four years, district president for one year and secretary for two years. She was a resident of Topaz Ranch Estates for 16 years.

She is survived by her husband Daryl L. Mobley, one brother Jerry Tuttle of Georgia; four children, Patti Smith of Gardnerville, Barbara Lee of Minden, Michael Dittman of Pennsylvania and Rick Dittman of Washington. She is also survived by six step-children, sons Gary, Richard and Rodney Mobley, daughters Judy Prins, Jean Heuer and Jane Smith of Oregon as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are in the care of Autumn Funerals and Cremation in Carson City. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, they would appreciate any donations be sent to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 3630, Patti Smith, Treasurer, 687 Ann Way, Gardnerville, NV 89460.

Thomas Aloysius "Tim" Nagel

1914-2007

A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. March 10 at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville for Thomas Aloysius "Tim" Nagel, 92, who died Feb. 19, 2007.

Mr. Nagel was born March 5, 1914, in Detroit, Mich. He and his wife Peck, had four daughters before moving to Venice, Calif., in 1946. There they finally had a son and later, after moving to the San Fernando Valley they had another girl and two more sons.

He worked in the die cast industry, retiring in 1976, then he and his wife, Peck, moved to Carson Valley. They worshiped at St. Gall Catholic Church and Living Word Fellowship. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Eventually, the majority of their children and their families migrated to Northern California and Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his daughters Ellie O' Toole of Markleeville in 2000 and Sharri Holman of Gardnerville in 2005, as well as Sharri's daughter Shelli Hodges of Gardnerville in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Peck Nagel of Gardnerville; their children Reen Tisinger of Gardnerville; Kathleen "Kelli" Edwards of Virginia City; Tom Nagel and his wife Judi of Topaz Ranch Estates; Coco Kelly and husband David of South Lake Tahoe; Tim Nagel and his wife Doreen of Anza, Calif.; and Ted Nagel of Gardnerville as well as 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
