Allan Lewis Dotson
1927-2007
No services are planned for Allan Lewis Dotson, 79, who died Feb. 25, 2007.
Mr. Dotson was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Burbank, Calif. He spent many years in Salt Lake City that became the family home. Out of eight Dotson children, three now remain. A resident of Gardnerville for the past four years, he enjoyed many hours spent at the Douglas County Senior Center and he always felt welcome.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Dotson of Gardnerville; four daughters, Polly, Jill, Amy and Jennifer; two sons, Matthew and David; three sons-in-law, Tom, Michael and Matt and six grandchildren, Jessee, Lucca, Zoe, Alexi, Molly and Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Madelyn in Salt Lake City; his sister Olga in Provo, Utah, and his brother Richard in Hudson, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in association with the Neptune Society, which is taking care of the cremation.
Louise Dougherty
1914-2007
A funeral service is 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Minden for Louise Dougherty, 92, who died March 2, 2007, at Carson Convalescent in Carson City.
Mrs. Dougherty was born in Nebraska on Sept. 29, 1914, and grew up in Mississippi where she was one of six children. She left Mississippi and moved to California when World War II began. She worked as a radio operator. She met and married Bud Dougherty and moved to Lake Tahoe in 1968. Working together, they owned a barbershop until Mr. Dougherty's death in 1974. She moved to Gardnerville and worked for Bently Nevada as a cashier in the cafeteria. She retired in the 80s and went on several missions for the LDS Church in the southern states. She was also a seamstress and spent time sharing her talent with others. She loved to fish.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Kim Dougherty of Carson City; two grandchildren Denise Dougherty of Salt Lake City, Utah and Mike Dougherty of Reno.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. Burial will take place at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society, 6490 S. McCarran Blvd. Reno, NV, 89509.
Glenn Allen Gardner
1912-2007
A memorial service was March 3 for Glen Allen Gardner, 94, who died Feb. 22, 2007, at his home in Gardnerville.
Mr. Gardner was born March 16, 1912, in Morrhead, Iowa, to John and Ethel Rush Gardner. He completed one year of college and he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He spent his career with the Social Security Administration. He married Mildred Durand Gardner June 5, 1937 in Missoula, Mont. Previously from Lincoln City, Ore., he was a resident of Gardnerville for eight years.
He was preceded in death by brothers Floyd, Curtis, Lynn and Marvin Gardner and sisters Opal DeLance and Regina Gardner. He is survived by his wife Mildred of Gardnerville; a daughter, Camille Scharo of Gardnerville; a grandson, Elliot Allan Souza; his sister, Corrine Bavart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City with inurnment to take place at the Mottsville Cemetery.
Kathryn Kay Spaelti
1915-2007
A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for Kathryn Kay Spaelti, 91, who died in Gardnerville, March 1, 2007.
Mrs. Spaelti was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Preston, Minn. She married Walter J. Spaelti and they lived in San Francisco until moving to the Carson Valley 12 years ago. She worked as a telephone operator but her passion in life was taking care of her children. She was a longtime member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church in San Francisco.
She was preceded in death by her son Stephen Spaelti. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Walter Spaelti of Minden; son and daughter-in-law James and Natalie Spaelti; daughter and son-in-law Eileen and John Brooks; daughter and son-in-law Laurel and Gilbert Midura-O'Brien; one brother, one sister, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to Alzheimer Association, 705 S. Wells Ave. No. 225 Reno, NV 89502.
LaVonne Fenwick
Hallahan Wilson
1939-2007
A celebration of life is March 10 for Genoa resident LaVonne Fenwick Hallahan Wilson, 67, who died Feb. 20, 2007. The service will be 2-5 p.m. at her home at 2456 Genoa Springs Drive in Genoa Lakes.
Mrs. Wilson was born on July 6, 1939, in Exeter, Calif., to Omar and Irma Fenwick. She spent her early childhood in San Jose and Forestville, Calif., before coming to Reno in 1946.
She attended Orvis Ring and Mount Rose elementary schools, Billinghurst Junior High School and graduated from Reno High School in 1957. Following graduation she worked as secretary at Stead Air Force Base and following its closure, at the Veterans Hospital in Reno. When children came along she became a doting mother and homemaker. In later years she resided at Marla Bay, Lake Tahoe, where she operated her own successful real estate business, Lake Of The Sky Properties. In the 1990s she and her husband, Steve Wilson, moved to Genoa where she was affiliated with Coldwell Banker Itildo Realty in Minden until her death.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Wilson; two sons from a previous marriage, Randy and Ricky Hallahan of Reno; a brother, Jerry Fenwick of Sparks; and two nephews, Daniel and Raymond Fenwick of Sparks.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be sent to the American Heart Association.
