Rhoda Chichester

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church for Carson Valley rancher Rhoda Jean Jacobsen Chichester.
Mrs. Chichester died Dec. 29, 2006. She was 81.
The church is at 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. A reception is to follow in the fellowship hall.

Ernest D. 'Ernie'
Fanning
1935-2006
A funeral for Ernest D. "Ernie" Fanning, 71, a Gardnerville resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Gardnerville. The family requests that those attending wear casual Western dress.
Mr. Fanning died Dec. 31, 2006. He was born April 5, 1935.
He enjoyed the outdoors, ranch work, writing poetry, and spending time with his friends. He spent his days riding mule, gathering cows, training teams, cutting hay and changing water.
Among his survivors are his wife, Kay Fanning; sister Florence Adkins of Arizona; son Mitchell Fanning; daughter Danell Fanning; stepchildren Ray Carter, Barbara Smith, Robert Carter and Butch Duncan; one grandson and several extended-family members.

Howard Arthur Godecke
1923-2006
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday for Minden native Howard Arthur Godecke, 83, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1480 Douglas Ave. in Gardnerville. Mr. Godecke died Dec. 11, 2006, at a care facility in Carson City after a long illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1923, to Clarence W. and Esther M. (Menzel) Godecke, Mr. Godecke grew up on the Milky Way Farm off Heybourne Road in Carson Valley.
Robin Lynn Kalaman
1954-2006
A memorial service will be planned in spring for Robin Lynn Kalaman, a Gardnerville resident who died Dec. 19, 2006. She was 52.
Mrs. Kalaman was born on Jan. 28, 1954 in Darlington, Pa., the daughter of Willard and Colleen (Strawn) Martsolf. The family moved to Ohio, where she spent her school years in Damascus, Ohio. She graduated from West Branch High School in Beloit, Ohio, in 1972. In January 1975 she moved to Florida, where she met Bob Kalaman. The couple was married in Beloit, Ohio, on April 20, 1980. In June 1980 the couple moved to Nevada. Mrs. Kalaman worked at the Lakeside Inn as a bartender for 20 years and enjoyed her time at work socializing.
Mrs. Kalaman's hobbies included reading, watching movies, collecting figurines, doing yoga and spending time with her son.
Mrs Kalaman is survived by her husband Bob Kalaman of Gardnerville, son Derek Kalaman of Gardnerville, parents Willard and Colleen Martsolf of Beloit; brother Bruce E. Martsolf of Beloit; sister Cheryl A. and her husband Jeff Dillon of Dover, Del., numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kalaman was preceded in death by her grandparents and one niece.

Mario J. "Mo" Oliva
1953-2006
A funeral for Mario J. "Mo" Oliva, 53, a Stateline resident since 1993, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Mr. Oliva died Dec. 28, 2006, at Stateline. He was born Jan. 5, 1953, in Cuba, to Mario S. and Domitila Oliva.
Before moving to Stateline, Mr. Oliva lived in Miami.
He graduated from the University of Miami in 1973, and was licensed as a certified public accountant with the state of Florida in 1975.
He was a partner in a CPA firm, Kwal & Oliva, while living in Miami. He retired in 1993 and moved to Stateline. He was a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He set up educational trusts after moving to Nevada. He enjoyed traveling, photography and spending time with friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Pedro Oliva. Among his survivors are his sister, Jacqueline Trujillo of Pembrook Pines, Fla., and friends Janis and Chris Tucker of Miami.
