The Carson Valley Arts Council presents a concert by acoustic steel-string guitarist Peppino D'Agostino on Jan. 26 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Wine and appetizers are served at 6 p.m., the concert begins at 7 p.m., with dessert at 8:30 p.m. Come and hear the latest information about the proposed Copeland Performing Arts Center.
Through the concert, the Carson Valley Arts Council hopes to reach anyone who is interested in having a performing-visual arts center in the community, and hopes to raise public awareness to the potential for the Copeland Building to serve as Carson Valley's first fixed-seat venue.
Additional concerts will follow as the council brings to the community a series of events to promote the project; the purchase and renovation of the old Copeland Lumber Building at County Road and Highway 395.
The concert is free. For information, call 265-3529 or visit www.cvartscouncil.com.
Months ago, the council met with two area theater companies to discuss what the groups' needs are concerning a performing arts center. Both The Dakota Organization and the Carson Valley Community Theatre group were excited about the prospect.
"Basically, we are 100 percent behind their effort to provide this community with a facility for the performing arts," said Dave Anderson of The Dakota Organization. "It will fill the needs of the community and has the potential to revitalize business in downtown Minden. Their creative ideas for that building are impressive."
"The Carson Valley Community Theatre organization is very supportive of the project and thinks it would be good for the community," said CVCT president Linda Diego.
