Staff Reports

The Douglas County Republican Central Committee will hold their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 11 at the Carson Valley Inn.

The speaker for this year's event is Curtis Patrick, former chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, special assistant to then Gov. Ronald Reagan and author of the soon to be released book, "Reagan: What Was He Really Like? Volumes I and II."

Reservations must be made and paid for by Feb. 5.

It has been more than a decade since Patrick, a Sheridan volunteer firefighter, moved out of Carson Valley. He and his wife, former Douglas County Planning Commission chairwomanJoan Patrick, presently live in Henderson.

In his 800-page, two-volume edition on Reagan, Curtis interviewed participants in Reagan's 1965 campaign for California governor.

The author interviewed volunteers, paid staff and consultants, many of whom accompanied Reagan to Sacramento to establish a new administration. Some tapes from the interviews will be donated to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley when the book is published. Some of the tapes will go to the Young America's Foundation in Santa Barbara, Calif., which owns Reagan's Rancho Del Cielo property.

The book includes 125 never-published photos from Curtis' and colleagues' photo collections.

No-host cocktails are at 5 p.m. and dinner is 6 p.m. Cost of dinner is $45 and choices include roast prime rib or salmon. Checks, made payable to DCRCC, should be sent to Brenda Robertson, DCRCC Treasurer, P.O. Box, 1032, Gardnerville, NV 89410. For questions, contact Sally Wiley at (775) 783-9292 or (775) 790-3031.
