The Mono County Sheriff's Department's Office of Emergency Services has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, for its "Code Red" high speed telephone emergency notification services. The Code Red system gives emergency services officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire Mono County area at a rate of 60,000 calls per hour.
All residential and business phone numbers in the Mono County 911 data base can be called by the system. The Code Red system allows for rapid dissemination of time sensitive emergency messages to the public.
Information regarding avalanche warnings, evacuations, flooding and fire warnings can be prerecorded and sent out over the system. Mono County and Mammoth Lakes residents can register their cell phones with Code Red to also receive emergency messages.
Register at the following Web site, https://login.codered.com/codereddataentry/Index.cfm and residents who do not have Internet access, should call Sgt. David O'Hara at (760) 932-5234 to be entered into the database.
