Douglas County Senior Services is seeking volunteers for the Companion program. Douglas County Companions lend a hand to seniors, touch the lives of adults who need extra assistance to live independently in their own homes and communities by offering companionship, assist with simple chores, provide transportation or just add richness to their client's lives.
Who can volunteer? Anyone who cares enough to help senior adults with a special need remain independent and living in their home. Volunteers benefit by making connections with older adults and knowing that you are making connections with older adults and that you are making a significant difference in their lives.
Volunteers are reimbursed for all gas mileage and are insured under the county's workers compensation program.
If this is a program you may be interested in being part of, please contact Cindy Petersen at the Douglas County Senior Center, 783-6455.
